The Second Chance

The man approached Heaven’s gates with a hopeful look on his face. He’d lived a good life and was confident on his chances of getting into the pearly gates. St Peter greeted him with a warm smile and said, “Welcome to heaven. …

Thoughts about Fixing Lagos Traffic — Dubai as a Case Study

Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital and my beloved city of birth, with its lively markets, vibrant colours, and… well… infamous traffic jams. It’s a problem as notorious as it is persistent, but what if we borrowed a page from Dubai’s transportation playbook? Is it plausible that we could significantly enhance our…

The Inevitability of Death

Death is a topic that many people find difficult to discuss and accept. It is a natural occurrence that every living being will eventually face. As I read somewhere, “death doesn’t happen to you. It happens to the people you leave behind.” This statement makes perfect sense to me. When…

Designing for Underserved Communities

It is our responsibility as designers to empathise with the users of whatever solutions we are tasked with designing and the problems they seek to solve. However, it can be difficult when we are working on problems with which we have little or no familiarity and are unable to contextualise…

Jobs-To-Be-Done Framework: Piggyvest — A case study

“The Jobs-to-be-Done theory posits that when we buy a product, we essentially “hire” it to help us do a job. If it does the job well, the next time we’re confronted with the same job, we tend to hire that product again. …

The Nature of Human Existence

All definition is comparison. Basically, to understand what something is, you need a frame of reference with which you’re already familiar to compare it with. Thus, if I asked you to define ‘dance’ — the concept. …

The Nature of my Belief — In God

Do you know how we’re told to have an unshakable belief in God? Well, a lot of the time I do. Oh I genuinely do. The spirit shaking, deep conviction, teary-eyed type of belief, the works, basically. And then sometimes I just don’t — at least not in the way…

Life.

Life. What is it to you? Are we living just so we die? Is that our purpose? Is that all there is to it? Death is the one inevitable occurrence in life. More so than rain and taxes — forgive me, Aunty Celine. I was headed back to Lagos from Ibadan a couple of weeks ago…

I need to write more

I love reading. Love, love! I could read other people’s words for days without end. Writing? Not so much. Just the thought of distilling my ideas into words and then typing them hurts my head physically. I have decided to write more however, in spite of this ‘crutch’. Pray for me! I’ll stumble, I’ll chicken out, I’ll conveniently forget to. But, I will not stop. And this post is my pledge not to. Here’s to infinity and yonder!
